Heavy Smoke BBQ takes home The Jack in 2022

Smoke filled the Holler this year as 64 U.S. teams and 23 international teams returned to Wiseman Park on Saturday to compete in the the thirty-third annual Jack Daniel’s World Invitational

Championship Barbecue less formally known as The Jack.


Around 5 p.m. teams, judges, and bleachers full of others gathered under the big tent in Wiseman Park for the announcement of the winners. And the 2022 Grand Champion is (drum roll) …. Heavy Smoke BBQ. The Reserve Grand Champion was Good Google Goo BBQ.

Janky Leg BBQ was the Chicken Category Champion and Pirates of BBQ Bay was the Reserve Grand Champion.


Last Call Heroes BBQ was the Pork Ribs Grand Champion and Bleacher Bums was the Reserve Grand Champion.


RJ’s Smoke House BBQ was the Pork Category Grand Champion and Big Poppa Smokers was the Reserve Grand Champion.


Slaps BBQ was the Brisket Category Grand Champion and DQ BBQ was the Reserve Grand Champion.


Pirates of BBQ Bay won the Dessert Category and Rusty’s BBQ took Reserve Grand Champion.


Phoenix BBQ was the Sauce Category Grand Champion and Smokin’ It All from Denmark took Reserve Grand Champion.
